Folklore ensemble Sv.Šime – Rtina
Folklore ensemble St. Šime from Rtina with the folklore ensemble St. Jerome from village Vlašići won the gold medal at the World Championship of Folklore 2013 (World Folk 2013), held from 22nd August to 1 September 2013 in four Bulgarian cities: Burgas, Nessebar, Pomorje and St. Vlas, organized by the World Association of Folklore Festivals (WAFF) and the European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF).
Folklore ensemble Rtina and Vlašići received a gold medal for performance and Golden Orpheus for preserving the culture and customs. Besides gold medals they received other awards: “The discovery of the festival”, “Diploma for contribution to the preservation of traditional heritage of the world”, “Diploma for excellent performance at the World Festival of Folklore”, laureate of the World Festival and a special award and recognition of the European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF).
Folklore ensembles from Vlašići and Rtina performed, among others, a small stage show in which through different chants presented the love of a girl from Kotar and from the island. In the end they sang the Bulgarian folklore song “Polegnala e Tudora” with a stage play.
